Frame Work II Portrait

LindenJL is an Oakland-based artist, designer, and arts community organizer, with B.A.s from UC Berkeley (2018) in Practice of Art and Psychology. Their work explores estrange embodiment, recursive identity building, and indeterminate boundaries through installation and mixed media practices. Their current series of textile installations has filled event venues and arts & music festivals across California. Their community work is focused on building artist collectives and community arts projects in the Bay Area including the Gallery 2727 Artist Co-op and the Temple of Together at Burning Man.

My work is a meditative exploration of embodiment within a shifting landscape of political subjectivity. Entangled in a contemporary culture in which identity is perpetually scrutinized and negotiated, I feel compelled to address the underlying processes of “being and becoming”.

Guided by a deeply queer sensibility,  I emphasize transformation, permeability, and recursion in my subjects and material approaches. This is an interdisciplinary effort, informed by biology, history, and social theory. I explore the complexities that arise through multiple lineages, each marked by time-consuming labor and material expansiveness.
